Welcome to the first blog post of 2014. Ed and I had a lovely Christmas and New Year but to be honest a lot of it was spent talking about The Wandering Kitchen. It is hard to switch off when you have your own business and it is so new.

The atmosphere

The atmosphere

We spent a lot of time talking about what worked about our first pop-up restaurant events and what we could have done better. One of the biggest things that we thought that we needed to change was the name ‘Supper Clubs’, because we kept getting asked if we were popping-up in people’s homes.

Looking up the term on Wikipedia (the fountain of all knowledge) the evidence was clear that we had slightly miss pitched our events. We don’t want our pop-up restaurant events to be secret and we don’t want them to have a dinner party feel. Our aim is not to be ‘anti restaurant’ we want to bring the restaurant to you and your community.

The Atmosphere

We want people when they think of The Wandering Kitchen to think rustic, bistro with a majestic atmosphere. We create this atmosphere by using custom made pine tables from Alcove, vintage chairs, atmospheric lighting and carefully chosen table decorations.

The food

The Food

At our events you don’t just get one choice of what to eat there is a small but carefully put together menu that is cooked by Ed and his highly qualified and experienced team of chefs. We do aim to create a homely feel with our food, but homely with a touch of class, that might just knock your socks off.

The Service

My background is front of house management and I am passionate about offering the best service to all of our customers. I have had so much bad customer service recently that it drives me to want to do better. Our staff are carefully chosen and are able to communicate, are friendly but efficient and will go that extra mile for a customer.

So after all this Christmas discussion and deliberation what did we decide to call our pop-up restaurant events in village halls around Oxfordshire and Berkshire…… The Wandering Kitchen’s Village Restaurant, it does exactly what it says on the tin. And we now have six more Village Restaurant events booked up in Dorchester on Thames, West Ilsley, Aston Tirrold, Sutton Courtenay, Hampstead Norreys and Tetsworth. Table bookings are now being taken online and you can sign up via the bookings page.

See you at a village hall near you very soon,
